More bank less cash: The trick here is that you try to deceive yourself about your financial stand by not holding too much cash at hand, and having the bulk of your cash in the bank, set aside money you will be needing according to their priorities, unnecessary expenses like hotel tips should not be included in this list (largely because it's not important),
Itemize likely financial events: it is quite important that you know the program of your events, this will enable you to be in charge of your finances when in Brazil, you will enable yourself not to be caught unawares and remember, a good planner is a good business man. your likely financial events should be; paying for return tickets, paying for hotel reservation,tour guide (if you must), food, transport, etc.
Go with the flow: if its possible you meet with people that are also going to Brazil before you go it is a wise idea to do so, as you guys can reduce your cost as a group, this will make your expenses cheaper (as you guys would mostly split cost), and yes, if you don't know anyone going in Nigeria, you can look for Nigerian tourists when you get down there? how? its easy, go to the Nigerian supporters (believe me there's gonna be a lot), you might even be lucky to meet Nigerians staying in Brazil and keen on accommodating you or guiding you, just go with the flow!
Narrow your events: prioritize your events and adhere to it so much that you don't ever give in to any excuse, make sure that your events are of importance, and do not participate in events that are not in your program (e.g. going for carnivals that is not on your program, e.t.c)
Know the price: it is of essence that you know the price of all the products/services when you get to Brazil, you can do these with investigative research, go on your internet to make research, talk to those that have gone to Brazil before on how they went about the journey, then above all, know the security of the area which you plan to stay while in Brazil
Look more, Buy less: When you get to Brazil, have it at the back of your mind that you are an observer,you are not on a shopping spree, you should mind how you spend, amuse yourself by looking, but you don't have to always dip your hands to get what pleases you, in fact, discipline should be your watch word, put it at the back of your mind that you are not in Brazil to buy shoes or wristwatches, etc, you are there to belong and amuse yourself, do just that and you will be fine.
Be alert: Always stay alert in Brazil especially when you are in a transaction, language barrier could pose as a big problem when you are transacting, be careful and watchful, in fact, avoid transacting with the locals, and if you must, make sure only little cash is involved.
Security wise: Be security conscious always, know where your wallet is, know where your baggage's is, don't go to dark areas, or areas with low security (remember you will be obvious as a tourist, so you are a possible target), if you secure yourself very well, then you are at minimum risk of losing your cash.
Be friendly with people you meet: Yeah, you are probably thinking how this can ever help you save money, but really it does! when you are friendly with people, they tend to give you more information that might help you save, for example if the hotel food cost a fortune in comparison to the down street restaurant (the same food), you probably get that kind of information from friends you make there, and that will save you money.
Be proactive: always think more before acting, that really saves a lot, make sure that you avoid unnecessary mistakes like over tipping and misplacing money, have a well thought out action, this will put you in charge!
