    1. The price presented here are too expensive, we are talking about Nigeria a poor country. So let me give the Nigerian people that are building a house on what to do in this case.
I advise you to look for other neighbours building a house that needs materials like you to join hands together to buy all the materials from china or Europe. All they need is look for a reliable person in those countries to buy the materials needed for them and send them with container throughout the boat; it can be 1 to 10 containers. If people start doing that the forking Nigerian business men that are selling those materials so expensive will now see for themselves; that they are not as important as they think they are.
Just get 20 to 30 people building there houses and put money together to buy materials at a cheap prices from china or Europe. I am trying to organise this from the Nigeria committee here in Europe to help my Nigeria people. It doesn’t matter what part of Nigeria you from, this is all about to the help the Nigerian people so that the foolish companies will stop cheating them the way they do up till now.

    2. Did u also want to import sharp sand and granite for them, pls stop fooling us jooooor. For those that wants to buy building materials, I urge u to buy your materials here in Nigeria. The price of any material base on ur negotiation power. Please don't fall into the hands of those that will just dupe u. Best of luck

    3. I don’t import sharp sand or rather granite, but the Nigerian people has to know the truth, someone like you is the real people hoaxing the Buyers in Nigeria; the money they spend in buying materials here in Nigeria are too expensive because the companies selling that materials are cheating them because if you spend 200.
You can also use the same amount to buy all the necessary materials you need to build your house if you import them from Europe or China. what I see with my own eyes here in Nigeria is that the companies here take the citizen of Nigeria to be fools and that is the reason why they install the price they like on it because they know you need it, But if you can afford the same or better materials for low cost from other countries why won’t I go for it.
I have seen with my own eyes that the same materials you buy in overseas countries they sell it in Nigeria for millions of Naira. We are talking about a poor country. So please open your eyes wide to see more than you see right now, this advise is giving to those that have ears to hear and eyes to see, those people knows quite alright what I am talking about.
Please ask Nigerian citizen living out of Nigeria, I mean living in China or Europe countries, they will confirm this to you.

    4. you are right but the truth is hard to buy, when you tell people that the sellers and manufacturers are exploiting them they sometimes finds it difficult to accept take for instance the building blocks that sells for between N90- N130 in Nigeria compared to Eco Bricks which are finer, needs no plastering and not damaging to the environment which sells for less than 30 cents in Developed countries. If you are interested in knowing more, we are in the process of setting up a small plant in Nigeria by July to be making these bricks which will cost N60 (Dimension 30cm by 15cm by 7.5cm) if you want to learn more or want to see for yourself send me a text at +353862938179 (Pastor Tokunbo)

    5. I so agree with you that Nigerian companies take the citizens to be fools. I'm saying this because I've seen it for myself. Imagine people trying to make as much as 100% profit..It's that bad.

      Delete
    6. I do hope your plan sees the light of day. Nigeria is an emerging economy with lots of cash flying around at the moment, so the disparity in import and retail prices can somewhat be related to. And then importation is sort of a nightmare if you're not an aged player or got solid links, the quantity suppliers outside the shores require you to buy initially or recurrently can put you off immediately, before you get to think of the logistics involved with clearing it at the ports and transporting it to your location within the country (I conveniently skipped shipping from the exporting country because it doesn't require much).

Till demand falls, it's hay day for the importers and suppliers. And talking about too much profit, a Samsung Galaxy S5 is manufactured for less than $300 and retailed at company stores for $700+ depending on the region, Google Glass cost less than $200 to manufacture yet costs a whooping $1500; and and my favorite is the ISPs that make as much as 1000% on SMS charges irrespective of region. There's nothing like too much profit as long as the market supports the prices.

    8. What a fork of cost price, it is too expensive to be Nigeria; we are talking about a very poor country. The Europe people that have a better trade and industry, the Price of all the building material you mentioned here is very expensive compared to the price of building material in Europe. I am talking of a continent with better financial.
Nigeria is nothing important in the world classification and they think they are very important and they put the cost price of building materials very pricey than the Europe cost price of building materials.
You people are making Nigeria to be a bad place to survive; Nigeria is undeveloped country without any opportunity for the citizens; the Nigeria people have to migrate out of the country because they have no future opportunity, you people make the price of building materials to untouchable for the people that are trying to get an opportunity to survive.
Like what the Europe people say here; The African people we never grow up because they don’t know the way to give an opportunity to them selves. I am a Europe citizen and I can see how you people destroy your own country and your own people and you people are the one making other countries to call your country trash country.
The governments are corrupt and they do not care about the citizens, the institutions are all corrupt, the companies are as the same, all corrupt.
The African immigrant are treated as a slave in Europe just because the foolish corrupt African government does not provide any opportunities for there own citizens and that make the African people to migrate to other countries to look for an opportunity. The African governments only steal the money of the country and most of the African government has bank account in tax havens, like swiss.
I am really ashamed of the African government, here in Europe the African government are called fools because they say they sign all kinds of stupid agreement that the foreign countries provide to them.

  2. Yes, most are in Lagos. Prices of building materials varies greatly and nothing is universal. E.g: 10tons of sharp sand sells N24,000 in Lagos and the same 10tons sell N7,000 in my village, you can see the disparity

Please in your own opinion which one do you think is better to do when planing to build two flats with three bed rooms, two living rooms, one dinning area and four bathrooms on each side, to buy blocks or to mold blocks, and do you by any chance know how many blocks it will take to build two flats?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. To mold your own block is better; you save money and still get stronger blocks because it's cheaper when you mold it yourself. Two flats of depending on the size may take average of 10,000 blocks

  29. Dear Darlinton,

Just finished reading about you page. You are destined to survive and your story is not different from that of mine growing up in Southeast in those days.
I had a terrible childhood though the hard life helped shape my life for good. To cut the story short, i was fortune enough to find the shoes of the Netherlands nearly 20 years ago as a refugee. But today God has favored my hard-work. Actually, I discovered your site today and wow, what an awesome information! In Dutch we say petje af ( lost of respect)

Anyway, presently i'm investing in cassava processing and clean water projects in Aba. Do you write project plan? what is your price?
Secondly, my organization is trying to set up an earthwork blocking and interlock system project in Nigeria and will need the following information to determine the block estimate input. Could you help?

I wish you all the best!

  43. Good job man! keep it up!
Do you know people run away from story building because of "decking"?
Do know the one building a 4-bedroomflat can as well build a duplex with almost the same amount?
Do you know that cost of decking can be slashed into half or thereabout?
Do you know you don't have to do concreting or iron rods to build arches?
Do you know that scientifically you build the same qty of walls floors probably windows and doors when you do 4-beroom and when it is duplex? In fact you spend more on roof with the flat! and save half floor area if you do duplex.
Ignorance of this had made people to settle for less. Like someone who wanted and is qualified to study medicine in university settling for midwifery.
As architect and builder we have researched developed new alternative and built many since 2009 bringing relief to those that desired it. So, brother fire on, you are meeting some people's needs on this platform.Thank you
