How to Win and Retain Customers in Your Business

One of the greatest challenges you may face in business is how to building your customers base and keep them coming. You may have everything required to run a business but once you don’t have customers to patronize you, you are not in business especially in business where the back bone of success is good customer base. As a matter of fact, strong customer base is the lifeblood of every successful business because; you are in business as long as they keep coming.

Some really have this believe they are not in business because of any particular customer therefore, they go ahead and treat those who come around them as if they are out to prove a point that they not hungry. That isn't too good because every business person is hungry for profit and success. If you are not hungry for the reasons mentioned, then you do not suppose to be in business.

Can you remember the last time you visited any good establishment? Do you notice how prompt and polite you were received? Can you tell me the reason why all the major companies and establishment has customer care unit? If this ones can still go extra mile to satisfy their customer no matter how small and insignificant they seem to be despite the strong publicity some of them have, then you will understand how wrong you where if you are among those who has the syndrome of “Soldier go, soldier come” for their customers.

It is one thing to win a customers and it is another thing to keep them coming time and again. You may be just loosing your customers to your competitors due to your attitude towards them.

Yes, do not forget that what builds business is knot how much invested in it, it is how best your positive attitude toward those who may come around you for the purpose of transaction. Therefore start doing the following now!

By all means, make yourself appealing to those who choose to patronize you, see it as a rare privilege no matter how scarce your product or service seems to be - your customers may choose to go elsewhere after all.

Create products or services that are unique, let your services distinguish you from your competitors by so doing you make your customers see value for the money they intend to part with.

Be punctual and regular in your business, do not crate the impression of irregular, unreliable business person in the mind of your customers as this is capable of damaging whatever trust they may have in you to provide good service delivery on time.

Always try to know the mind of your customers by asking question such as: Are you satisfy with my service or goods? Are there ways you want us to improve on? Then conclude by assuring him of your readiness to attend to his need next time.

You may ask him to come back if there is any complain about the goods or services, as that will create a room for open discussion between you and your customer thereby creating positive relationship that is required in building solid customer relation.

Work on your personal and business image - you have to sell yourself before you can sell anything else. People are naturally attracted to something neat and presentable. Therefore, by paying attention to your personal appearance and to your business premises your customers will be naturally attracted and enjoy coming to you always.

Granted, some customers can be very difficult to deal with but never mind. You can still win them over or at least create positive impression of a good businessperson in their mind.

If by any reason, your customer seems unhappy due to the quality of goods or services rendered see what you can do to remedy the situation.  Your business will not in any way be affected if you overlook some few issues and at the same time you will enjoy good relationship with your customers. Your goal is not just for instant gain at that point in time, but to keep them coming for the future benefit because, once they stop coming you seize being in business.

Every business is capable to make you rich, only if you can master the best way to treat those who show interest in your goods and services! You will surely reap the rewards that come with hard work. Don’t procrastinate, go ahead with any aspect of Business you find interesting on WealthResult.com the profit is there waiting for you.

The journey has just begun! I hope as we have started it together, please do not give up. “A winner never quit and quitter never wins”.

  1. Excellent write up. I once got into an argument with a cashier inside the banking all, she was expecting me to tell her the remaining change I would collect from her, but I asked her, "Do you think that's my job?" Obviously the question upset her and she flare up, It got so big that the Bank Manager came out, called me into his office and apologized for the staff mis-conduct. If he did not apologize, am very sure I wouldn't be banking with them today... In short, some people can get away with bad conduct in a company, e.g. Gateman, but sensitive staff like cashier e.t.c. Should mind their conduct. Thanks for sharing.

    1. Yeah, this and many other incident like that are the reasons companies fold up so easily in our country. Most times, managers and employees don't just care how the staffs behaves towards customers.

Adeleke, you guys are inspiration to other Nigerian youths - keep doing what you do. Thank you
